Lesson one:
- Understand the capabilities of flat file data load functionality
- Load data from Flat files into the SAP HANA DB
Data provisioning: process of loading, either once, on a regular basis, or in real-time, data from an external source into SAP HANA DB.
Replication:
1) What is replication about and what would happen if there were a change in the source table and what does this mean to transformation?
- Transferring contents of database tables 1:1 from source to target table.
- if the change were to happen in the source table, then the same will be triggered within the target table; transformation is possible to a light extent only
2) What is the emphasis of Replication?
- Speed to make data available in SAP HANA
3) What are the two setups for real-time replication?
- SLT and SAP Replication Server (based on SAP Sybase)
Extraction:
1) Is Extraction based on speed and why?
- focused less on speed as the ETL processes are normally scheduled in hourly, daily or weekly schedules only.
2) What kind of data can SAP BO DS connect to?
- A vast amt of src systems with structured as well as unstructured data
3) What happens to the data after it is extracted and transformed?
- can be extracted and transformed in various forms in order to cleanse data, improve its quality and prepare it for posting it into the target system.
