DXC/ Dashboard

DXC

how we can load data to SAP HANA using Direct Extractor Connection (DXC).

SAP HANA Direct Extractor Connection (DXC) is providing foundational data models to SAP HANA, which is based on SAP Business Suite entities.

*key point*DXC  is batch-driven in many use cases,  data acquisition at certain intervals is sufficient, for example, every 15 minutes.

Here is the key points to Choose DXC
  • Reduces complexity of data modeling tasks in SAP HANA significantly as data sends to HANA after applying all Business content Extractors Logics in Source System
  • Speeds up time lines for SAP HANA implementation projects
  • Provide semantically rich data from SAP Business Suite to SAP HANA
  • Reuses existing proprietary extraction, transformation, and load mechanism built into SAP Business Suite systems over a simple HTTP(S) connection to SAP HANA ( low TCO)
  • Requires no additional server or application in the system landsca
    pe(Simplicity)
ERP data   =Extractor==>   DataSource(flat structure)   ==Generic data transfer ==>  BW(InfoCubes, Data Store Objects, InfoObjects)  ===data flow redirected to Hana: transferred over http connection ==>   HANA(in memory DSO) Activation Queue ==Activation processing=> Active Version, Status

Qs:34 On which of the following servers can you configure SAP HANA Direct Extractor Connection (DXC) data sources? (Choose two)

A. SAP Business Warehouse server
B. SAP BusinessObjects Data Services server
C. SAP HANA server
D. SAP ECC server

What are the different types of replication techniques?

1) ETL based Replication using BODS
2) Trigger based replication using SLT
3) Extractor based data acquisition using DXC

SAP HANA Direct Extractor Connection:
  • Configure XS Application server to Utilize the DXC.
  • Define User and Schema in HANA Studio
  • Define http connection to HANA in SAP BW (SM59)
  • Configure the Data Sources in BW to Replicate the Structure to HANA defined schema
Questions( DXC)

1)  Where does the extraction take place?

Between ERP and DataSource

2)When does Generic Data Transfer take place?

Between DataSource and BW

3)  When does data flow redirected to Hana: transferred over http connection take place?

BW to HANA

Dashboard
it provides tools for Data Visualization, Enterprise Reporting, Business Objects Planning and consolidation, Enterprise Performance Management, Query and Analysis, Enterprise Information Management, etc.

  • Client tools can access HANA directly, Like MS EXCEL, SAP BI 4.0 Reporting tools, Dashboard Design Tool (Xcelsius)  can also access HANA directly.

  • f.     BO Dashboards = Visualize complex data easily with interactive dashboards
  • Crystal Reports, WEBI, SBOP Dashboards are able to leverage hierarchies in reports but are lacking deep hierarchial capabilities.
    25)  A “What-if” scenario is the strength of SAP BO Dashboards.

  • 2.   Which BO Tool is good for visualization
    Ans   DASHBOARDS

  • Semantic Layer (UNX) is available for reporting by which of the following reporting  tools
    a.     Crystal Reports Enterprise, Dashboards & WEBI
  • .  Which tool is used to create Universe for reporting in dashboard ?    Information Design Tool (IDT)

  • What is the BO Tool used for Dashboard Reports ?
    XCelsius (For Interactive Dashboards)
Dashboards 4.0
ODBC / JDBC via Universe (UNX)
QaaWS or BIWS via WebI 4.0 or Universe (UNV)
SQL /
XML via SQL
You can also view the components under Tree and List as per the functional category.
Favorites − These are available under Category and Tree view. To add a component to Favorite, right click on the component → Add to Favorites.

Tree View − In tree view, the components are organized in folders as per their category. You can click on the folders to see what all categories are there and check the list of available components as well.

Charts − Charts are used to perform comparison, trend and patterns.
Containers − Container components group and display other components.
Selectors − It allows dashboard consumer to select data at run time.
Maps − It is used to display data by region.
Category View − Components are grouped in a sliding view and you can scroll down to open each category.
List View − In list view, the components are arranged in alphabetical order and they are not grouped based on the category.
